The Abyssinian is considered as one of the oldest of all breeds and domestic cats. According to most historians, they resemble a sculptural and painted representation of Ancient Egyptian cats. These cats are also active, social and very vocal! They bond very close with the family, or their owners and they wanted to be involved in everything that their owners do.

Before you bring an Abyssinian home, however, you should be a responsible cat owner, and learn everything you can about this breed and how to care for it properly. Show More

What is Free – Feeding?

There’s a new trend online that suggests free – feeding can keep your cat healthy but according to most experts and vets, you should not consider “free – feeding” your cat because as previously mentioned, in the wild, these cats hunt and kill for food. It’s not in their natural instinct that food is always available around them 24/7. That’s not economic and it’s also dangerous for their health. Cats are built to only eat small meals at a certain time (at least 5 – 6 hours ideally).

Generally cats are not grazers, and they can’t just eat whenever. In the wild, they only eat food after doing an activity or after hunting for their prey, so if food is available to them anytime, it kinda messes with their brain and nature. Little did some owners know that free – feeding can lead to behavioral problems such as whenever they’re peeing or pooping, if you want to train them to pee or poop at their litter box, you can at least have a chance to know when they’re going to do it if you control their eating schedule. Of course, if you practice free – feeding you can expect them to relieve themselves anytime and anywhere they want which is not sanitary. It’s highly recommended that you feed them small meal throughout the day instead of free – feeding your pet.
